Highfields Defibrillator

Over the years Highfields have worked closely with the British Heart Foundation. Last year they spoke to us about a scheme they were running for communities in England. They had been awarded £1m from the Department of Health in November 2016 to make public access defibrillators and CPR training more widely available in communities across England. Highfields were one of the schools that applied to have one of these defibrilators in school and we were lucky enough for our application to be accepted.

In April this year Highfields became the location for a new British Heart Foundation defibrillator. It is situated in a specially constructed case on the wall in the school hall and we will be talking to your children about it and what it is used for over the next couple of weeks. We have informed the local medical practices and ambulance service that we have the machine in school and we would like to thank the Governing Body in supporting school to gain such a valuable and lifesaving piece of equipment. If you wish to know any more about the defibrillator, please contact Mrs Doran, Parent Governor, the school office or the British Heart Foundation https://www.bhf.org.uk/heart-health/how-to-save-a-life/defibrillators
