Information about Maths
Maths at Highfields is taught through the White Rose scheme of work from Reception to Year 6. We use a mastery for all approach, encouraging all pupils to achieve at the highest possible level.
Pupils have a daily maths lesson along with daily fluency sessions to practise key skills they have been taught and to develop speed and accuracy of recall.
Pupils from Years 2 to 6 all have access to TimesTable Rockstars - an online programme which they can access both at home and school to develop speed and accuracy of key multiplication and division facts. If your child has any problems with their log-ins please speak to their class teacher.
Pupils in Year 1 have access to Numbots - an online programme which they can access both at home and school to develop speed and accuracy of key number facts. If your child has any problems with their log-ins please speak to their class teacher.
Pupils are continuously assessed throughout the year to ensure teaching meets the needs of the pupils. Pupils in Year 4 will complete the statutory Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June each year and pupils in Year 6 wil complete statutory assessments in Maths (SATs) during May each year.
