Phonics and Reading Home Learning

Each Monday the children will bring home a Phonics learning sheet so they can practice the sounds that they have been learning that week.  Please support your child in practising these sounds and words to support their learning in school. 

Your child will also have an e reading book allocated each week which is assigned according to their current reading level.  Practising reading this book will support their Phonics learning and progress their reading fluency.  

In June, all children will sit a Year 1 Phonics Screening Check.  Listening to your child read their e-book 3 times a week and practising their Phonics sounds weekly will both support their reading and Phonics in Year 1.

Please send your child's reading diary every Friday and if they have read 3 times, they will receive a stamp in the diary and also a stamp for their stamp reward card!   Please also return the 'Book to Share' so they can be assigned a new 'Book to Share' for you to read to your child.
